Hi,

This is most probably due to the menstrual irregularities that occur when one is approaching menopause. But some diseases like fibroids, endometrial carcinoma etc can also cause excessive bleeding and must be ruled out. In my opinion, you should consult your doctor so that a local examination can be done. Your doctor may also advice some tests to rule out any pathological causes which should be done.

Best wishes.
