What Is The Cause And Treatment For Vaginal Infection?

Hi there, After sex with my regular partner whom I live with, I had a burning sensation the day next day when I urinated. I recognized the symptoms right away and immediately started drinking a lot of cranberry juice. The symptoms went away temporarily but came back soon after I stopped drinking the juice. I ended up calling my doctor and getting on antibiotics for a week. I took the Sulfate drug, but I also had a friend in town, so ended uo drinking more than usual while on the antibiotics. I stopped taking them at the end of last week. The burning when I urinate is much better but it still feels really sore in the vagina area like it is swollen and inflamed. I also itch sometimes so wonder if it could be a yeast infection. I am beginning to think that the antibiotics did not work for me or if my drinking caused the infection to not go away. I have a friend of mine who has been on antibiotics for a UTI for a long time, and don t want to get to that level. Is it possible the inflamation is because I waited so long to go on antibiotics and will resolve with time, or do you think my drinking caused the antibiotic not to work and I need to get a different kind of antibiotic?
