My husband was diagnosed with saliva gland infection (completed one ultra sound test and two CT scans.) He has been on three different anti-biotics (1st one by mouth for one week, no improvement, 2nd one by mouth for one week, no improvement, and third one for 2.5 days via IV at the hospital and 10 days by mouth after hospital discharge, with little improvement.) It has been six weeks with little improvement. His symptoms include severe facial pain and swelling, and numbness around the right ear lobe. It’s also lumpy underneath the skin below the ear lobe. There has been white discharges coming out from the right ear since week 2 (discharge usually comes out when chewing; however he is mostly on liquid diet due to difficulty in opening the jaw wide.) The pain has ceased somewhat, however the swelling remains the same, if not worse. His ear canal is also blocked ¾ due to swelling, hence decreased hearing in the right ear. He has always been a healthy man (now at age 42) with no smoking or drinking history (actually never did.) We are desperate for a treatment that works. Any feedbacks are greatly appreciated. Thank you, Lisa
