What Is The Cause And Treatment For Bad Breath?

Hi doctor, My problem is bad breath arises from the esophagus. I am facing gastric problem and hyper acidity since long years back. and sometimes I used to take antacid when I feel heavy acidity. It is noticed in my throat and end portion of tongue is rough. I feel it when i put my finger towards the throat. Some time i feel severe pain in the just below portion of chest. Recently I consulted two doctors one by one. First one prescribed 1) Sparacid 2) Levosulpride 25mg 3) Esomaprazol 40mg and suggested to complete the course for 40days. during the course of the medication I felt little better and no badbreath noticed also. one week after complition the problem started again. Then I consulted another doctor and he prescribed 1) sucro D 2) Mosapride Citrate 3) Pantaprazole tab and asked to have the course for ten days then to meet again. It has complited now for 6 days but the phagus smell is still there and I am afraid of rough throat still as its. And I feel sever pain in my ear too. The Tonsil near the paining ear is also found red and bloomed. Requested to kindly suggest me the medicine i am using right or to be continued. I was used to smoke, hardly 4-5 a day. rare drunk occasionally, no other tobacco used.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain bad breath also known as Halitosis can occur due to a number of causes like poor oral hygiene, oral and dental infections, tonsil stones or tonsilloliths, post nasal drip, sinusitis, acid reflux, respiratory infections, diabetes etc..
In case if you have acid reflux which is appearing evident from the symptoms that you are experiencing you should continue taking antacids and proton pump inhibitors like Omeprazole and also avoid spicy and acidic foods..
Take more of yoghurt in diet and drink plenty of water..
Do moderate workout..
You should also consult an Oral Physician or an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations depending upon suspected cause can help in diagnosis..
Treatment of underlying cause will relieve the symptoms..
As of now you should start gargling with a flavoured mouthwash twice a day..
You should chew flavored sugarfree chewing gum..
Do warm saline gargles twice a day..
Limit the intake of high aroma foods like onion and garlic..
Drink plenty of water and maintain a good oral hygiene.

Hope this information helps..

Regards.
