What Is The Cause And Treatment For Anal Fissure?

Hi, I have a little embarrassing and personal problem that I want to address to a different doctor, get another opinion....A couple of months ago, I started noticing small bright red spots on the toilet paper after I would have a bowel movement, accompanied by a dull deep pain to the left and below my belly button... These were also accompanied by a bit of burning/pain, so I figured piles, bought some Prep H and went on with my life. Well, on last sunday, I had been having the stomach pain bellow the belly button and I went to the bathroom and there was quite a bit of bright red blood on the toilet paper WITHOUT a bowel movement. It was even dripping into the toilet bowl. Absolutely terrified me, the amount that was there, so I made my S/O take me to the ER. At the ER they did a CBC (and some other blood tests), CT Scan and the doc looked in my bum....All the blood work came back normal, as well as the CT scan, but the doctor said I had a fissure. He gave me Anusel Suppositories, referred me to a Gastroenterologist and sent me on my way....Today (Wednesday) I had my appointment with the GI doctor, discussed my symptoms and he did a rectal exam. He did not see/feel a fissure and said it looked normal. He seemed stumped on what was causing the stomach pain (I have had no significant change in bowel movements) and ordered me to have a Sigmoidoscopy to check for polyps or internal piles... I am just wondering if I should be worried it could be something more serious (cancer). I asked yhim and he said it was unlikely but that was all he would say. He had no real explanation for what was going on....any kind of input or help would be greatly appreciated. Also, the sunday I presented with blood and no bowel movement, I had been slightly constipated that day (I eat poorly on the weekends). Could this be causing it?
