What Is Solution For Discomforts Due To Goiter?

I have an enlarged goiter that I m told by a specialist that it is growing inward. I have had this problem for over 5 years and the growth progresses. It looks like I have three chins. Just on recent examination, I have noticed that it looks to be growing downward and outward. I have terrible headaches, trouble swallowing and I always seem to have a soar throat that I can not get rid of. I am due to have surgery, but it seems forever that this will take place. I just put up with the discomfort as I don t have any other choice. My husband worries because he says that sometimes he hears me breathe and sometimes not. Last night was his worst night, he thought I was struggling to breathe. I am not aware of this myself when I sleep. I have informed my doctor and specialist of this over a year ago.

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding enlarged goiter that is giving respiratory obstruction during sleep, it indicates that you should consult your doctor for thorough examination of lump as well as interior of throat to rule out laryngeal palsy (some times occur due to pressure over recurrent laryngeal nerve). After co-relating the local findings with reports of necessary investigations like- hormone levels, FNAC, ultrasonography etc do accordingly.

In the meanwhile for respiratory problem in sleeping hours you may use c-pap to avoid any emergency.

Regards.
