What Is Reason For Child S Body Not Accepting Medicines For Leukemia?

My nephew is 4 yrs having lukemia found in October 2010. His treatment of Chemo started and now Doctor said to stop the chemo of medicine currently giving after he see a report which is due to methotrexate, and will start again the chemo after 1 week. What would be the reason child s body not accepting this medicine?
