What Is Normal Blood Sugar Level For Older People?

I am taking insulin. I am going on 79 and today my fasting blood sugar was 224. my blood pressure and pulse rate are normal, if not optimal. I understand that blood sugar level goes up with age and for 78, it is okay, but i am warned that I must not develop complications.

Hi,
Blood sugar level does not change with age and 224 fasting blood sugar is too high and requires medication increase.
You should not wait to develop complications as any level about fasting blood sugar of above 100 is already causing renal, eye, vascular and neural damage. If you develop complications, at this age, it could become life threatening.
Once again, I would like to repeat, sugar level does not go up with age.
Additionally try to make life style modifications like low carbohydrate diet, multiple small meals, weight reduction, mild to moderate exercise.
Now, you need to meet your doctor for immediate control and further dosage increase.
If you have any further queries, happy to help again.
