Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had an MRI and the results showed I have a nondisplaced, nondepressed medial tibial plateau fracture with extensive associated bone marrow edema. Bone contusions at the anterior aspect of the medial and lateral femoral condyles. Intact left knee ligaments, tendons, and menisci. Increase fluid sensitive signal in the ACL which may represent a sprain injury or edema associated with the tibial plateau fracture. What should treatment be? I am seeing my primary care doctor at 4:00 today and I think I will need a referral to an orthopedic specialist I can see before the 4th of July long weekend. What do you think? I am in a lot of pain and this has been going on since July 20th. Getting the Ultra sound done and MRI was not ordered expediently by my primary care doctor. I want to start the healing process. How do I speed this up?
The MRI report is indicative of tissue edema following anterior cruciate ligament injury. If the ligament is not torn, the management would be conservative in terms of: - Rest to local part - Avoidance of walking with weight bearing - Posterior cast support - Anti-inflammatory with analgesic action as tramadol hydrochloride and serratiopeptidase round the clock intake - Control of blood sugar - Use of steroids as per the clinical evaluation by your doc
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
