What Is Causing The Pain In My Upper Left Abdomen?

I've undergone cholecystectomy about 13 years ago. Recently, however, pain in the upper left side of my abdomen has begun to annoy me; hence,I submitted myself for an ultrasound examination of my lower and upper abdomen. Since the results show no abnormalities in the organs covered by the ultrasound particularly the liver, I did not go to my doctor anymore. I just interpreted the occasional mild pain as a result of the fatty food I sometimes eat. Until one day, I was in a drugstore for my husband's maintenace medicine when I heard a woman buying MX3. Curious about it because of some ads on TV, I inquired how MX3 is. She willingly shared brief testimonies that made me decide to buy four capsules. Following her advice, I started taking 1 capsule a day before bedtime. After 2 days, I bought another 15; however, these last few days, the pain in my upper left abdomen becomes frequent. Though still mild and tolerable, I am bothered, So I said I really have to see my doctor. My question then is, why do I feel such after having started taking MX3? I would appreciate so much any explanation and additional information. This is the very first time I research about MX3. Thank you and more power.

Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Well, to start with the cholecystectomy 13 years ago may not have anything to do with your present problem as the gall badder is on the right side.

Your problem is pain on the left upper abdomen and can be due to :
Colitis as this is not picked up by the ultrasonography. You have already undergone ultrasonography which rules out: Spleen, kidney and pancreas problem in the upper abdomen.

MX3 is Mangosteen capsules are known to contain many important chemicals and nutrients. Some of these include the class of nutrients known as xanthones. It is very good anti-oxidant.
But it will have no direct use on pain in abdomen.

I would suggest you the following:
To get colonoscopy and biopsy done as your problem looks to be due to colitis.
If required CT scan can help better than the USG.

Get the correct diagnosis to get a proper treatment.
You can certainly start an antibiotic and metronidazole for 5 days. If there is complete relief nothing more is needed to be done. IF no complete relief, go for colonoscopy.
