What Is Causing Frequent Irregular Pulse Rate Of My Mother?
My mother is 61 year old. Since 4 years she has irregular pulse rate. Previously it was once in a month. But now a day it is happening 3 times in a month. The duration of irregular pulse rate period is 8 to 9 hours. She does not feel pain in her chest. She is feeling pain in her jaw. She sweats during that period. After 8 to 9 hours she will automatically be normal.
Different cardiac test have been tested like ECG, Stress testing etc. all results are OK. Thyroid test result is also OK.
Since 8 months she has constipation problem.
Please suggest me what should I do? Is it heart disease or some other disease which effect her heart?
Hi, From the information you have provided, I think she is experiencing paroxysmal arrhythmias. It would be impossible to be more specific than this without recording an episode on the ECG. I suggest she needs a 24 hour ECG until a episode is recorded. Then a diagnosis can be made and treatment started. Regards, Dr K A Pottinger
