What Is An Alternative Of Budesonide For The Treatment Of Crohn S Disease?

I have Crohn s disease. What can I take instead of Budesenide. I have been on Prednisone and Remicade but went into anaphylactic shock on the Remicade. When I am really in pain and with diarrhea the Budesenide does work but it costs me $600.00. I am scared to take Humera because of the Remicade reaction. I am 72 years old and on Medicare with Part D with Aetna. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Another alternative of anti-inflammatory drugs that work on Crohn's disease is mesalamine.

Also, other corticosteroids like Prednisone and Methylprednisolone can be used effectively. Prednisone and Methylprednisolone are cheaper alternatives you can use instead of budesonide.

Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
