What Is A Painful Lymph Node Suggestive Of?

Hi I had a lymph node which occurred two months ago. I had a blood test it it came out normal. However they referred me to the hospital for a scan I'm still waiting on the letter. But now I've got fever, flu, cough and the lymph node is getting painful. I visited my local walk in centre and the doctor said it's virus that's going on. But he said the hospital will do a scan on the lymph node im quite worried because i don't know what it is.
Hope you can help,
Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

As a physician I would like to tell you that, the condition of your lymph node could not be determined till CT scan is performed. Also, your walk in physician was most probably correct that you may have got flu infection during the period and the lymph node would have gotten more irritated.

Thus, I would suggest that you should use some pain medication like Tab. Aceclofenac 100 mg two times a day after meals, as of now for 2-3 days. Also, you must get the scan done as soon as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Abhijeet
