What Effect On Diet Does Taking Excess Dosage Of HCG Injection Has?

I am doing the HCG injections for diet purposes. I prefilled my needles to 50 units and it was actually supposed to be 15, i misunderstood. I clearly need to drop my dose but how will this affect my diet? I am 41, not concerned about fertility issues, i had a hysterectomy.

Hi There! The HCG injection, or human chorianic gonadotrophin, will have absolutely no effect on your weight loss. There is no evidence that this female hormone assists in weight loss at all. The true weight loss comes from the highly restrictive diet, the very low calorie level, the metabolism of glycogen stores due to the very low calorie content of the diet (meaning loss of a great deal of water weight) and not the injections at all.

Lasting weight loss comes with permanent lifestyle changes including adoption of good nutritional habits. Weight loss that occurs quickly and without lifestyle changes are generally short-lived and damaging to the metabolism. Regards, Kathryn J. Shattler, MS,RDN
