Nuclear test is done by injecting small amount of radioisotope in blood and measuring its nuclear disintegration and activity. It gets concentrated in the disease parts and areas of normal increased radio tracer intake. The image is generated using a gamma camera with photomultiplier device attached.
The radioisotope is mixed with diluent which is a vehicle to transport the chemical to various parts of the body. Rarely, some people have an allergic reaction to the injected chemical. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to iodine.
You should consult the doctor in the testing area and inform them of your difficulties that you are facing. This should also be told to your treating doctor and a note made should have developed an allergic reaction. Next time you go for a scan please inform the people at the scan center that you might be allergic.
