What Does Vaginal Bleeding Along With Pelvic Pain Indicate?

Hello, I have taken Lutenyl 5mg for 9 days on a course of 21 days. I went to the OBGY after I got my periods for more than 2 weeks, and he conducted an ultrasound which was fine. He suggested Lutenyl for 21 days. I stopped bleeding on the 6th day but after I did weight lifting and strenuous exercise today, I started bleeding a bit again with a dull ache on my left side pelvic. Please advise,

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

In every case of irregular bleeding a pregnancy test is recommended if the woman is sexually active, just to make sure she is not pregnant.
Irregular vaginal bleeding with pelvic pain may happen with infections and it is important that you have a gynecological visit with your doctor and possibly get cervical samples to rule chlamydia and gonorrhea infections.
If these infections are ruled out by the visit and the tests than it might be more helpful for you to get combined oral contraception with estrogen and progesterone. Having a combination of these has a better effect on the uterus with less chance of bleeding compared to Lutenyl alone. You can take the combined oral contraception for 3 months to help regulate your periods.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj, MD
