What Does Urine Analysis Result Suggest: Pus Cells(10-12) & Epithelial Cell(4-5) Mean?
My mother, 66 years old had high fever with shivering chill and acute breathlessness. She had pain on the spinal chord as well.Urine tests suggest: Abnormalities in Urine R/E Report : Pus cells - 25-30 , Epithelial cells - a few ,
Albumin - distinct trace
6) Urine culture report (urine was collected for culture afater administration of
antibiotics) : - Shows pus cells 10 to 12 , epithelial cells 4 to 5 per high power field.
Culture : No pathogenic organism grown fter 48 hours on incubation.
Does this mean that she has urine infection and the chill and vbreathlessness was due to that?
Thanks for contacting HCM, yes, it appears from your mothers symptoms and urine report that your mother is suffering from urinary tract infection. Urinary infection presents with fever with chills. High fever can cause breathlessness, but looking at her age breathlessness can have other causes. Please get her checked up for diabetes, high blood pressure, renal function test and heart disease to rule out these causes of breathlessness. regards
