What Does Twitching Of Mouth When On Celexa Indicate?

Hi. I am a 52 yr. old female and I have been taking brintellix for 1 yr. now and dr. just added 10mg of celexa. I also suffer from panic disorder and cervical spine issues. For the past 3 days I have had a twitch next to my mouth, left side. What are your thoughts on this please.

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Brintellix is Vortioxetine and the drug acts by increasing serotonergic transmission in brain. Celexa is Citalopram and the drug is a SSRI drug which also increases serotonin transmission in brain. You have been taking Vortioxetine since last one year and then 10 mg Celexa has been added. Addition of the drugs probably resulted in increased serotonergic transmission in brain and this has caused serotonin syndrome. The recurrent twitching you are having could be occurring due to restlessness caused by taking both these drugs together. Please try to relax yourself and remain indoors for some time. If you have prescription of any benzodiazepine drug like Clonazepam then that can help. Call your doctor immediately if symptoms persist or worsens.
