What Does Tingling Sensation In The Pelvic Area Indicate?

My 21-year-old daughter has been aware of an odd tingling or vibrating sensation in her pelvic area for the past 3 or 4 days. It is not painful, but rather a diffuse fluttering or twitching feeling. The sensation does not seem to be associated with eating, urinating, or defecating. Her last menstrual period was about 2 weeks ago, and she has not had sexual intercourse. She has generalized anxiety disorder and is prone to somatization, and I have suggested that she try to use her therapy tools to distract herself; however, if there were a physiological explanation for the sensation that I could offer her, it might help her to get past the hypervigilance. Thanks!

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Tingling sensation in pelvic area can mean many things.

1. neuropathy
2. pelvic inflammation
3. pelvic infections
4. spine injury.

Please see a orthopedic surgeon and proceed for a X-ray lumbar spine as an injury to nerves can cause such an issue. Also take tab. Pregab ones a day at bedtime.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
