Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,

At the age of 83, tightness in chest and dizziness make me think of causes like acute myocardial infarction, severe left heart failure, congestive cardiac failure, unstable angina, blockade of carotid artery, ischemic stroke associated with congestive cardiac failure, or pulmonary embolism.

To those patients who come to my clinic with similar symptoms, I advise an ECG, 2D echocardiography, troponin tests, D dimer tests, and chest X- ray.

Treatment always depends upon the cause. Kindly take your father to a cardiologist for detailed clinical examination and accurate diagnosis at the earliest for an appropriate treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
