What Does This Ultrasound Report Indicate?

Hello Dr, I went for a pelvic scan and this is the result An empty anteverted uterus is seen returning homogeneous myometrial echoes with regular uterine borders measuring (71x42x44mm) in it s LxAPxT dimension. The Endometrial plate appears normal in thickness (8.7mm). A sharply marginated cystic mass with imperceptible wall is seen measuring 50.3x41.5mm in the left adnexa. No evidence of internal echoes or septations is seen. Right adnexa and Pouch of Douglas appear free. Conclusion: (i) Acyesis (ii) Simple Left Ovarian Cyst. Please what does this means and what should I do next. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
The following conclusions can be drawn based on the ultrasound report you have furnished.
1. Uterus features are normal and there is no evidence of any lesions associated with it.
2. Endometrium is also normal in thickness.
3. There is a mass seen on the left side of ovary in the tissue beside uterus which appears to be filled with fluid.
4. Right side of the tissue beside uterus and ovary appears normal.
5. Pouch of Douglas should be free and it is. This states that there is no evidence of infection.
Hence, the report says 'Acyesis', which means absence of pregnancy and there is a simple cyst on the left ovary.
This cyst could be treated by means of medication and follow-up. Kindly consult Gynecologist with the report for clinical evaluation and management.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
