What is haemorrhagic follicle measuring 18 mm in diameter is seen in right ovary and what is the meaning of possibility of chronic PID? I am 36 year old married woman having two children one of 11 years and another of 9 years. I am having severe abdomain pains. Above question is the my sonography report. Please suggest the operation is needed.
The ultrasound report says you have a follicle measuring 18mm and it is hemorrhagic, meaning bleeding has taken place.
PID means 'pelvic inflammatory disease'. Chronic means, this is going on for a long duration.
Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is an infection of the reproductive organs in women. Several different types of bacteria can cause PID.
Generally, it is treated with an appropriate course of antibiotics. Operation may not be necessary at this stage and the condition can be managed conservatively.
Kindly consult Obstetrician with the report for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
