What Does This Liver Function Test Result Indicate?

I have an ALT of 87 and an AST of 50. This has been present since about May 2015. My total cholesterol is at 269. I am not particularly overweight. I am not diabetic, have no heart disease. I am not a drinker or a smoker. I might have 2 drinks a month. I take a few medications - lexapro, clonazepam, dexilant, and synthroid. What might be causing the elevated numbers?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for posting your query in HCM. I had gone through your question I understand your concerns.
ALT AND AST are liver enzymes , most sensible indicators of liver cell injury like fatty liver, hepatitis, hepatocellular damage, drug induced toxicity, obesity, cirrhosis.
I would advise you to consult gastroenterologist for further evaluation and management.
Hope i have answered your question if you have further questions i will be happy to help.
I find this answer helpful
