What Does This Hip X-ray Test Result For Intense Hip Pain Indicate?

Hi, I just received an email from my Dr. refer me to orthopedic dept. because xray taken of my hip showed prominent nodular calcification about the greater trochanter of the femur. I have had cronic knee and hip paid for over a year , finally gave up and went to dr because pain medications did not help- but now i have to wait 3 weeks to see Dr, and my primary is now on vacation- what is this and what is treatment for something like this?
