I was trying to understand my echocardiogram results. Technically difficulty study. Aortic Valve: The aortic valve is trileaflet. There is no aortic valve stenosis or aortic valve insufficiency. Mitral Valve: The mitral valve shows borderline prolapse with mild myxomatous changes. There is mild mitral valve insufficiency by Doppler. Pulmonic Valve: The pulmonic valve is grossly normal. There is trace pulmonic valve insufficiency by Doppler. Tricuspid Valve: The tricuspid valve is grossly normal. There is mild tricuspid valve insufficiency by Doppler. The estimated RV systolic pressure is normal. Left Ventricle: The left ventricle is normal in size. The systolic performance is normal. The estimated left ventricular ejection fraction is 65-70%. Right Ventricle: The right ventricle is normal in size and overall systolic performance. Aortic Root: The aortic root is not dilated. Atria: The atria are not enlarged. Pericardium: There is no significant pericardial effusion. Conclusion: 1. Grossly normal aortic, pulmonic and triscuspid valves. 2. Borderline mitral valve prolapse with mild valve insufficiency. 3. Mild tricuspid valve insufficiency with normal estimated RV systolic pressure. 4. Normal LV size and overall systolic performance. The estimated left ventricular ejection fraction is 65-70%. I m a 45 year old female that has had symptoms of fatigue, blood pressure higher then normal, swelling in the ankles and feet, heart palpitations all going on for little over a month and a half. Just started noticing within the last couple of weeks a little shortness of breath, especially when I lay down at night. Its like I can t catch my breath for about 30-45 seconds. Should I be worried?
