Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does This Blood Test Result For Shingles Indicate?
I have a shingles type rash on my right buttocks. I have had sensitivity in my right knee area for days, I mean just touching the skin makes me not want to touch it. I have arthritis but this is more just the surface skin. My latest blood test (April) showed my blood sugar to be 94 but I have been wondering about diabetic Nerve pain like I hear on TV since I have little pings all over my body. My left arm is unusually sore but more like muscle or nerve than bone. I have had a shingles vaccine shot. My left eye is bothering me a little. I wouldn t pay this any mind if I didn t have this rash. Also my face has been itching though I see no rash or redness. My latest blood test also showed that my blood was low - the red blood cells, the white blood cells, hematocrit, were all lower than they should be. It is Sunday so I have not contacted my doctor. Now I also have a headache concentrated around my eyes.
Shingles is viral infection affecting various immune mechanics of the body and may pause changes in blood parameters. The lowering of white and red cells can be part of the same, but low hemoglobin must be evaluated for different or additional cause of anemia rather than shingles.
