What Does This Blood Test Result For Dizziness And Muscle Pain Indicate?

My daughter is 15. She has fatigue, muscle aches, and soreness. She is frequently dizzy upon standing and can tolerate 10-15 minutes of slow walking before she is exhausted. Mono test is negative and blood looks normal other than a slightly elevated tsh level. She has been in bed for almost two weeks now. Any suggestions?

Hello,

Your daughter's symptoms are fatigue and myalgias. Except elevated TSH all reports are normal. A few conditions related to these symptoms are hypothyroidism, severe anemia, orthostatic hypotension, chronic fatigue syndrome, polymyalgia rheumatica, adrenal insufficiency, illness anxiety disorder, hypopituitarism, depression and iodine deficiency.

The list is long and exhaustive as she has vague and generalized symptoms. All the above must be ruled out by diagnostic testing. Blood tests for electrolytes, cortisol, T3, T4 and other factors is necessary. Please do consult a physician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
