General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Your x-ray means that one of the bones which make up the skeleton of your palm was fractured.
The bones needed to be reduced that means to be put back in the same position as they were before.
This can be done by surgery or by immobilizing the hand.
If a fractured bone isnt reduced, it will heal itself and make grow in directions that are not normal, hence the term malunion which means it will not be united in a normal fashion.
I suggest you see your hand specialist again with all your previous and new x-rays as malunion cases frequently require surgical intervention.
Wish you good health.
Do post again if you have any further questions.
Regards.
