What Does This MRI Result For Spine Radiology Indicate?

My MRI spine radiology reports says: There is a 2 cm in height T1 hyper intensity within the dorsal aspect of the spinal cord on the post gadolinium images. This manifests increased T2 signal with more diffuse areas of increased t2 signal seen extending caudally to the t9 level and cranially to the mid t4 level. They say in an opinion I have an enhancing demyelinating cord lesion. I have a confirmed diagnosis of NMO. I want to know if the report is saying that I have 2 cm of active inflammation?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.
Thank you for contacting HCM.

I have gone through your MRI report. The enhancing lesion (abnormality) which is around 2cm in height is the area of active disease process. This lesion shows surrounding edema (abnormal fluid in adjacent tissue) and manifests as increased T2 signal on MRI. Hence the total area on T2 images is larger than the area on post contrast T1 images.

I hope this answers your query. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns.
Wishing you and your baby good health.
