Hi,
The
MRI report suggests that you have a minimally displaced intra-articular
avulsion fracture on the dorsal aspect of the base of the second to the distal phalanx of your foot, which means that a small piece of bone has been pulled away from its attachment site due to a ligament or
tendon injury. Additionally, there are concomitant findings that suggest a dorsal
capsular injury, which is an injury to the joint capsule that surrounds the joint.
The
numbness you are experiencing may be due to
nerve compression or damage caused by the injury. This may require further evaluation by a medical professional.
Whether or not surgery is required for this injury will depend on the severity and extent of the injury, as well as the level of pain and functional impairment it is causing. In some cases, conservative treatment such as rest, ice, immobilization, and
physical therapy may be enough to manage the injury. However, if the injury is severe, surgery may be necessary to properly realign the bone fragment and promote healing.
It is best to consult with your doctor or a foot specialist (podiatrist or orthopedic surgeon) to determine the most appropriate treatment plan based on your specific condition and symptoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
