Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a MRI yesterday and one comment is concerning me…. at the C6-7 level, there is moderate to severe right lateral recess and right C7 foramina stenosis and mild C7 foraminalal stenosis. can someone explains in BASIC terms what this means and how I would go about it to research where to go from here?
Hello and welcome to HCM, The MRI report is regarding the C7 vertebra. The C7 vertebra is present in the neck. There is narrowing of foramina or recess present on right side of the C7 vertebra. Narrowing of foramina can lead to compression of nerve passing through it. Compression of nerve can lead to pain in the area where the nerve has its distribution. Stenosis of foramina can occur as a part of degenerative process. I suggest you to consult an orthopedician for clinical assessment, investigations and thus management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
