Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi doc, I am a 25yrs old guy having giddiness and heaviness at the back of my head from last 6months. MRI of head shows normal. Recently TOF MRA angiography done and results shows - TOF MRA angiography reveal hypoplastic right vertebral artery with prominant and tortuous left vertebral and basilar arteries indenting medulla from left side. What does this means in layman term and how severe is this problem?
Hypoplastic as well as tortuous arteries will result in hinderance to blood supply to the draining area. Here in your case, the blood supply through right vertebral, left vertebral and basilar arteries are resulting in a reduced supply to brain resulting in giddiness &heavy headedness. Extent of this problem will depend on the amount of blood supply reduced to brain.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
