What Does This MRI Report Indicate?
Hi, I m only 32 years old and Mir showed at l4-5 small disc bulge result in mild canal stenosis. At l5-s1 uncovering of disc as well as small disc bulge result in mild canal stenosis and mild bilateral neural foraminal narrowing. There are bilateral pars interarticularis defects of l5 with minimal anterolisthesis of l5 and s1 Please tell me what this means how can I treated also keep in mind I would like to have children in one year or two. Please help

Hello.
MRI reports always have to be taken in the clinical context. Most people will have some abnormalities in their spine which can only be picked up by MRI even though they're completely asymptomatic. Many times MRI done for other reasons reveals these incidental findings.
If you do suffer from chronic back pain, it may be relevent. The report suggests there are mild disc problems leading to some amount of canal stenosis which may or may not progress. Adequate rest, good posture and back strengthening exercises can help.
However, considering your age I would also like to rule out ankylosing spondylitis. A blood test for HLA B27 will help rule this out. This becomes televent as it is a progressive condition causing gradual straightening of the spine unless treated adequately. It may also be accompanied by occasional episodes of iridocyclitis i.e. red eye with severe pain.
In both the conditions however, you can well have children and be assured that it will not affect the reproductive system per se.
