What Does This MRI Report Indicate?
I have recently been diagnosed with lung cancer. I received my MRI results today and while thankfully there is no cancer in my brain but the report mentions there is polypoid mucosal thickening versus mucos retention cyst in the left maxillary sinus and I was just wondering what that meant.

A mucosal thickening or mucous retention cyst is usually just from a blocked gland in the outer layer that covers the insides of your sinuses.
It is in the sinus adjacent to your nose, and not in your brain, and is often seen on scans but rarely cause any symptoms or problems.
Only if you were having any sinus issues, such as pressure in your left cheek, would it be something to worry about, and even then the treatment would probably be the same as if a cyst was not seen.
So in short, it is nothing to worry about and considered a benign finding.
