Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recently found out of having a right sylvian fissure arachnoid cyst. I had an MRI done due to worsening migraines and a dull constant pain on the right of the head, tender to touch. Size of the cyst is approx 12 x11.5mm. I have been advised , nothing needs to be done except have a scan every 2-3 years. I have had tingling and numbness on left arm and leg for some months as well. I am in my mid 40s, female. I am really anxious of why do I get the pain on right side?
if arachnoid cyst is small and asymptomatic, usually no other interventions is done except for monitoring of the size of the cyst at least 1 yr or 2 or 3 years. if you already had symptoms like the tingling sensation and numbness on the left arm and leg, then, consult your neurologist for a brain scan right away. it could be that the cyst increases in size or a nerve is block which causes the symptoms..
