Hi,
Direct bilirubin level. - 0.4mg/dl
Indirect bilirubin level -4.4mg/dl
Total bilirubin level. -4.8mg/dl
these are indicating the type of elevated bilirubin and the thing that you see in your eyes is known as - icterus.
what is direct is conjugated bilirubin amt - conjugation
and what is indirect is the unconjugated one
the importance is that it helps us decide where as to the problem lies.
the following is the importance and reasons as to when will the indirect bilirubin rise :
ncreased total bilirubin that is mainly unconjugated (indirect) bilirubin may be a result of:
Hemolytic or pernicious anemia (advise - hemolytic profile for lab test or peripheral smear examination / retic count)
Transfusion reaction (kindly recollect if you have any such history)
Cirrhosis (correlate again with the history of liver injury - chronic - which may be due to infection or alcohol)
A relatively common inherited condition called Gilbert syndrome, due to low levels of the enzyme that produces conjugated bilirubin

since you are just 20 years old, we need to know the exact reason and then proceed forward.
Advice : Do not take this report lightly, do not panic, go into the details of your history and any ask if you have to take any other precautions or medications.
also consider the other tests and abdominal ultrasound to correlate with the condition.
Then you can repeat your test as well as can add urine examination.

good luck!
