What Does This CAT Scan Report Indicate?

I had a cat scan it showed plural effusion in both lungs. And pericardial effusion. I also have plate like atetacis probably not spelling that correctly. However I had a bout with extreme hypothyroid levels this past two months can hypothyroidism cause effusions? If so after the levels have gone back to normal will the effusion rectify itself?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Pleural effusion and pericardial effusion may be the result of heart failure. Definitely hypothyroidism may precipitate or worsen the heart problem. With proper treatment the effusion can be rectified. However, it will depend on how much damage has been done to heart.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
