Hello, I am trying to conceive and am two days past due for my menstrual. I am having cramping. I am an ultrasound technologist and have scanned myself. I found a small amount of free fluid in my cul de sac area. but did not see a gestational sac. What could this mean? My endometrium is thickened as well. Please help. I am afraid to take a pregnancy test. Afraid the answer might be (-) . ;(

Hi, I understand your concern. - The free fluid in cul de sac at the menstrual phase is not insignificant/ it may suggest late ovulation. - Thickened endometrium is a normal finding in late secretory phase of menses/ It is also seen in early conception- where implantation of gestational sac is awaited. * The key investigation in diagnosing the condition is Pregnancy test. To avoid testing because of scare is not the answer of your problem. Please be bold & get your Blood HCG testing done,It may turn + ve also! And even it is -ve, well & good. It will help you in early diagnosis of the basic cause & it's treatment-- so as you can conceive in near future! Thanks.
Hi If you had regular cycles before there is a high probability of you being pregnant.
It is too early to see a gestational sac now. You should at least be five weeks pregnant Smearing of cul de sac occurs after ovulation. Thick endometrium is a good sign that it may be early pregnancy.
Take a pregnancy test now. I wish you good luck.
