What Does The Symptoms Like: " Coarsened Lung Markings. Subtle Acute Interstitial Change Superimposed" Means?

Hyperexpansion of the lungs. Coarsened lung markings. Subtle acute interstitial change superimposed over chronic could easily be missed. Apical thickening. There is a density projecting near the left anterior rib end which appears asymmetricall increased relative to the contralateral side. There may be some scarring in that right middle lobe as well. No pleural effusions. What does this mean?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

These changes in lungs are most likely due to chronic small airway conditions. Also there is a mention of an opacity along a rib which needs to be seen on the image for better understanding. Lastly there is scarring in the right middle lobe. I suggest you consult a pulmonologist and get breathing tests done (spirometry) to know your lung capacity and reserve volume. Treatment is essentially symptomatic. Please stop smoking and exposure to dust if you have any.
