What Does The Meaning Of Sub Cortical Atrophy?

Hi my mom is 60yrs old and recently i came to know through Brain CT Scan that she is cortical and sub cortical atrophy,infarcts involving bilateral MCA territories, predominently on left side. Please help me I will be very thankful to you.

Hello,

Your mother brain CT findings are indicative of chronic changes to the brain vessels and also repeated strokes.

For this reason, I would recommend performing a Doppler ultrasound of the carotid arteries, a cardiac ultrasound and a resting ECG. It is necessary check her blood lipid profile too.

A blood thinner is necessary to prevent further strokes or aggravation of her situation. It is also necessary maintain her blood pressure and blood lipid profile under control.
