My urinalysis shows: LEUK ESTERASE 500 (A) WBC 13-29 (A) SQUAMOUS EPITHELIAL CELLS Many (A) I presume the A stands for abnormal. A culture was negative. My doctor seems unconcerned What do you think?

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

If you dont have any symptoms such as pain, blood in urine or fever then this is not conecrning and no treatment is required. If you have these then it is suggestive of uroinfection which is common in women in midle age. Other common cause are urinary stones. Diagnosis is established by doing urine analysis and urinoculture and after this antibiotic treatment may be started if necessary. If there is negative urine analysis then you should do ultrasound of kidneys to check for stones. Till this, you should drink plenty of fluids and take raspberry tea or juice to promote urination.
In every case you need to repeat urine test in 1-2 weeks.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
