Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does The Following Shoulder MRI Report Indicate?
Just had an MRI on my shoulder. Orthopedic dr states the AC joint has inflammation & fluid & he suggests surgery to remove a bone spur & clean out the joint. States it would be three small incisions & a 6-8 week recovery period. Dr states this is not something that PT can resolve as opposed to surgery. The shoulder has pain when moved in many ways. What is your opinion? Thank you! PS I am a 57 yr old female & I workout at the gym 3-4 times per week.
As you been told by the surgeon for the surgery than I think he is right because removing the bone spur is good and then undergoing PT session would be helpful. But before taking up the decision why not try out PT exercises for improving the joint stability, reduce the inflammation and improve the biomechanics. If the PT works and the pain and swelling comes down then surgery can be reversed or avoided. But depends upon the PT you chose for the best outcome score.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
