What Does The Following Endoscopy Result Indicate?

Hi, I had an edoscopy yesterday for gastritis and the doctor said I had the stomach of a 20 year old, I m 54, however, the report says the following - mucosa - patchy granularity and friability of the mucosa was noted in the antrum. These findings are compatible with gastritis. Cold forceps biopsies were performed. What does this mean?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is quite difficult to interpret a report without associated symptoms. In fact some experts consider it injustice to the patient to interpret the report without the symptoms. So I must ask you for the symptoms that you face for which the endoscopy was done. As such, the report suggests gastritis. And it suggests that they have taken a biopsy, the report of which has not been mentioned in your message.

I hope that helps. Feel free to contact me for further information with the symptoms that you have and the biopsy report.

Best wishes!
