What Does The Following Chest X-ray Indicate?

Just had a chest xray as part of a physical. haven't smoked in over 25 years and when I did I barely smoked. always nothing on chest xray, then this report:

Mild linear scarring right middle lobe without change. One or 2 small atelectatic or fibrotic streaks also at left base developing since prior study of 11/6/13.

my dr is scheduling a follow up in Jan. he doesn't seem worried, but I'm a little freaked.

Welcome to Health care magic.

1.The findings in the x-ray suggests there is scaring in the right middle lobe - which could be due to old healed infective process.
2.The previous chest infection usually leaves trace after healing as fibrosis, scarring, thickening, calcification.
3.Atelectatic changes are seen in case of presence of partial collapse of the lung.
4.But there is no active infection mentioned about in the present x-ray.
5.Probably doctor have given medication and want to see the changes - weather its an infection or old process.
6.In this case i would recommend HRCT - high resolution computer topography for better and accurate diagnosis. Good luck.

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
