General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I just been through your query. Lungs are air-filled structures. Mostly they appear black in X-ray.

1) An opacity means a whitish area where there is something there in the place of air which shouldn't be.
2) Linear means like a line.
3) This could be due to the presence of a collapsed area of lung or the presence of a fibrous tissue.
4) Atelectasis means a collapse of the lung, segmental means the collapse of a particular segment.
5) Fibrosis means replacement of normal tissue with fibrous tissue.

Do you have any symptoms such as a cough, fever, breathlessness? Kindly consult with a Physician. It can be treated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Moses John Wesley,
General & Family Physician
