What Does The Following TSH Value Indicate?

                                             Hi there,

I have just heard the results of te blood test and the value of the TSH is 7.5. This is a case of hypothyreoidie. I was prescribed low dosage of thyrax for in the morning without any further examination and tests. Nothing was explained what might have caused this. My cholesterol is also very high - 7.8, might be as a result, although it has always been high (6.7, 6.8 and above 7 mmol).

Please help with advice.

Kind regards,
Svetlana

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Your TSH value is high. Its due to decrease in your T3 and T4. It suggest that you have hypothyroidism. You need external support with thyroxine. You should take it regularly according to your doctor's advice. Go for regular thyroid function test. Your cholesterol is also high. For that you can take drug like atorvastatin or pravastatin. But it is prescription based medicine so consult your doctor and take treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
