Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Had surgery for meningioma in 2013 . Doc did not remove all. Just had MRI because of extremely sharp sudden pain in left temple for about 6 mo. Results say: Tissue loss and encephalomalacic w/in left temporal lobe. Elevated cerebral blood volume w/in mass Perenchymal column loss Meningioma involves medial left /middle cranial fossa w/extensions into cavernous sinus extending into Meckels cave and skull base I looked up terminology meanings and now nervous. Can t see oncologists until Dec 19th because 3 hrs from office and WV has very few brain docs. Please explain
Meningioma is a mostly non-cancerous tumor of cells lining your brain and spinal cord. So as the mass was removed in previous surgery, chances are high that it has been grown again. If it's removed completely without any remnants then also it can grow.
So all these terminologies suggest that new mass has been detected up to various marking into the skull. It's better to have a visit to your doctor and diagnosis. Though it will take time around 3 hours as you said you should visit. Don't worry now and enjoy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nirav Nimavat, General & Family Physician
