Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son Gavin is a 4 year old with special needs he has many medical issues as well as global developmental delays my question for you is about the findings on his brain MRI as our neurologist I feel like is not giving me answers to my questions. These were this findings from that MRI. Data Reviewed: MRI of the head and L spine March 2012 MRI of the head November 2013: IMPRESSION : 1. Absence of the olfactory bulbs and dysmorphic inferior frontal lobes, with failure to form a normal olfactory sulcus, gyrus rectus and medial orbital gyrus in each frontal lobe. These are findings which can be seen in Kallman syndrome. 2. Microcephaly. 3. Unchanged, nonspecific patchy white matter signal abnormality. Any ideas on what this could mean for his future and how the missing olfactory system will affect his ability to eat by mouth as of right now he is strictly g tube feed. This is not because of olfactory issues it is strictly from severe reflux as a baby he has had two fundoplications done as well as he was asperating but he has since had a swallow study done and has been cleared to feed safely but he has no interest in you putting anything near his mouth.
