What Does The Following CT Scan And Nasal Scan Report Indicate?

Hello Doctor, I have suffered from headaches for many years, recently of which occur daily and may start at any time of the day, or night (wake up during the night with a bad headache or first thing in the morning). i am 27 years of age, female. Recent CT scans displaysthe following: BRAIN SCAN moderate prominence bilateral superior extra-axial CSF spaces underlying the frontal and parietal lobes, more than would be expected for a patient of this age . NASAL SCAN CT Evidence of mild predominatly left maxillary and middlethmoidal chronic sinusitis. No CT evidence of focal mass or chronic fungal sinus infection. Suggestion of possible enchondroma 1.9cm left sphenoid body . Could any of these above be a possible cause for daily headaches, mainly occuring at the top part of my head (above my forehead when the hairline starts). Thank you

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

There are two main things mentioned in the scan:
1. Prominent CSF spaces in brain. This suggests above normal pressure of CSF (fluid surrounding and inside brain) spaces in the brain. This itself can cause headache
2. There is a suspected bone lesion/mass in the base of skull bone. This itself is unlikely to cause headache, but may contribute to it by causing obstruction to CSF flow.
Kindly consult a neurologist. He can give you more details, and help in management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
