What Does The Following CBC Report Suggest?

Hi Doctor, I am 25 year old male and recently had a CBC test. I am physically fit and there are no symptoms of any decease, however the CBC report is as under Hb : 12.4 RBS : 6.15 HCT (PCV) : 42 MCV : 68 MCH : 20 MCHC : 30 WBC : 6.9 Platelet count : 298 Is that normal. Why is Hemoglobin down ? Report reads Rule out possibility of Thallasemia minor What does that mean ? I have no thallasemia minor or I have something to be worried?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to health care magic.....

According to report you are having mild microcytic hypochromic anemia...
Four common cause should be ruled out....
-Thalasemia
-anemia of chronic disease
-sidetoblastic anemia
-iron deficiency anemia

Your RBC mass increased so that thalasemia possibility strongly present...
For it's confirmation perform HPLC electrophoresis that is gold standard for diagnosis...
Thalesemia minor patient feel sometime weakness when overexertion otherwise no significant problem...
At marriage time your wife also should have to ruled out thal minor to avoid thal major child...

Take care

Happy to help you further
